This tea is crafted solely from young leaf buds, individually harvested by hand to deliver complex aromatics, sweetness, and a beautifully persistent finish.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDeveloped in the late 1930's, Gold Thread Reserve is alternatively known as \u003cem\u003eJin Si Dian Hong\u003c\/em\u003e. \u003cem\u003eJin Si\u003c\/em\u003e means \"gold silk\" in Chinese, while \u003cem\u003eDian Hong\u003c\/em\u003e means \"Yunnanese black tea\". The tea was crafted from the buds of the Da Ye (or \u003cem\u003eassamica\u003c\/em\u003e) tea variety, an indigenous cultivar traditionally used to produce Pu-erh tea.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOnce harvested, the tea is left to sun wither, a step that breaks down the tea's cell walls and begins the enzymatic oxidation process. Once withered, the tea buds are bruised and allowed to rest until they turn from green to a beautiful gold, at which point the tea is given its final roast.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe result is breathtakingly smooth, aromatic, and complex.
